Our Reservations Team has put together some of their top tips to help you make the most of your holiday in Chamonix. Check out our suggestions below and get planning for your trip!
Adventure
Tree park: challenge yourself against the tree-top obstacles down by Les Gaillands lake and climbing walls. Will you make it all the way to the black course?!
Canyoning: jump feet first into the glacial waters of Chamonix or Italy. Follow the water as it slides over rocks, cascades down in waterfalls and fills clear blue pools of water. You’ll abseil over waterfalls, leap into pools and scramble over rocks.
Rock climbing: Chamonix is the home of alpinism and a natural place to try rock climbing. Group and private sessions offer the perfect opportunity to improve your technique or start from scratch at one of Chamonix’s crag faces.
Parapenting: Soar on the thermal air on a tandem parapente flight. You’ll love the unique perspective from which you’ll see the ice caps and glaciers of the mountains, even in summer.
Adrenaline
Italian water rafting: Hit the highest grade river in Europe, the Dora Baltea, for some adrenaline-pumping water rafting.
Glacier hiking: Beginners learn the basics on France’s largest glacier, the Mer de Glace (Sea of Ice), while those with experience can head up high to the famous Vallée Blanche, for panoramic views of France and Italy, at the foot of Mont Blanc.
Via Ferrata: bring your head for heights as you scale the sheer face of the Chamonix valley – up iron ladders and across cable bridges.
Hydrospeed: Take the plunge into Chamonix’s own Arve river and surf the waters with your own hydrospeed float and flippers.
Relax
Sightseeing: Chamonix’s most famous attractions are the Montenvers train and Aiguille du Midi cable car, both accessible from the town centre. From neighbouring St Gervais you can also take the impressive Tramway du Mont Blanc. Even better, they’re all included in your Mont Blanc Multipass.
Day trips: explore Chamonix and beyond with a day trip. Indulge yourself with an Italian wine & cheese tasting tour, or explore the beautiful canals and lakeside of Annecy – the “Venice of the Alps”.
Spas: we love the mountain setting of Pre Saint Didier thermal spa in Italy, just on the other side of the Mont Blanc tunnel, but there are plenty of spas in Chamonix too which are more easily accessible.
Golf: the 18-hole course was designed by the world-famous Robert Trent Jones Sr and has tricky water hazards and bunkers to challenge you.
