Rock climbing
Whether you are an experienced rock climber or a total novice, there’s nothing to stop you from scaling the natural rock faces of the valley with a Chamonix guide. The walls at Les Gaillands are very popular and you can join one of the small climbing school groups (3-5 people) to learn the basics with an instructor or develop your technique – all your equipment is included too.
You can also book a private guide for a half or full day to venture further afield and try some of Chamonix’s famous mountaineering routes – he/she can help you plan an itinerary or suggest one depending on your ability.
Or, if you already know what you’re doing and want to explore the routes of Chamonix on your own, the bookshops in the town centre have lots of good guidebooks available in English as well as French.
