On average it takes 10 years, from application, to secure World Heritage status. Those involved in the Mont Blanc bid have been promoting the peak and surrounding area whilst they also continue to battle legal complications to make sure it passes.
The application has strenth as is has nominations by both France and Italy and support of the UICN. It also has backing from the majority of towns within the area the pre-existence of a Mont Blanc ‘body’, the Espace Mont Blanc. Watch this space!
