As everyone is aware covid has restricted our lives in many different ways, including the closures of the ski lifts last year but 2021 everything is set to open in some form of normality and we hope it stays that way.
There is a lot to see and do in the valley, whether you are a skier, snowboarder or just enjoy being in the mountains.
Here at Chamonix All Year we are dedicated to making sure you have the best holiday and that you enjoy every moment in the valley. We are covering everything for you from spa days, hockey games and even treasure hunts.
There is something for everyone.
Throughout the season there are plenty of different events and more to come. Below are some of the main upcoming events for December and through the season.
Chamonix Events December 2021
December is when the winter truly takes off and weather dependant the lifts open the first weekend. It is an exciting first weekend with opening parties and apres ski.
Throughout December there are a few different events happening.
Christmas and New year are a beautiful time of year in the alps with the different shops and lights around the town.
1st December 2021 Wednesday – Story telling for little ears
Take your little ones over to the Les houches library and listen and tell stories.
From 09:30 to 10:00, Entry is free for all
4th December 2021 – Christmas Lights
Christmas light turn on, Lights are placed through out the town with a count down to happen in the centre. With a procession through the town this is a yearly tradition that is not to be missed.
4th – 5th December 2021 – Hip hop Ballet
A unique and fun way of seeing the different dances, with five hip hop virtuosos who explore their relationship to music as a source of inspiration and poetry through their dancing.

12th December 2021 – Christmas market
Get into the Christmas spirit with a local and traditional market, head down the valley in Servoz, with local products, artists and craftspeople.
Servoz village centre, Starting at 10:00 til 18:00, Free to all
19th December 2021 – Circus dance
Where dance meets circus, beautiful ballet with juggling, rings and other exciting elements.
With smooth and elegant movements from eight different artists and dancers.
Entry fee of 24 euro for adults, 10 for children and a student rate of 21 euro.

22nd December 2021– Mountain guides film screening
As the 200th anniversary of the mountain guides celebration, a documentary film event is happening in Vallorcine.

22nd December 2021 to 31st January 2022 – Live Irish music
Have fun sit back and enjoy some upbeat Irish music from the Guinness brothers. At the local Irish bar, Beckett and Wilde. From traditional to covers the Guinness bro’s will get you dancing.

Every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
23rd December 2021 – Treasure hunt
An exciting fun-filled day for all the family. Meeting at the top of the Prarion lift in Les Houches , ski and snowboard into some exciting fun adventures. This event is organised by the tourist office with prize giving and afternoon tea.
These hunts will continue through the season each Wednesday. With the next happening on the 30th December.
10:30 am at the top of Prarion gondola, registration at top, Free entry.
24th December 2021– street performers
On a yearly occurrence, street performers bless Chamonix with their presence. They perform different elaborate acts throughout the main streets of Chamonix centre. With music and lights it is a great way to enjoy and relax in the town.
28th December 2021– Games afternoon
Enjoy some downtime with friends and family with a fun-filled afternoon in les houches with wooden traditional and construction games.

30th December – snacks and torchlit descent
Enjoy an evening snack and a torchlit ski with the ski school instructors, there is access to the beginner slope until 22:00.

Chamonix market Every Saturday
The Chamonix market happens every Saturday, starting at 07:00 through to 13:00.
You can buy fruit, vegetables, cheese and even clothes from local sources.
Chamonix events December 2021 – Daily activities
If you are not feeling like getting up the mountain any of the days during December there are a few other things that you can enjoy.
Ice skating
There are two different options for ice skating- the indoor rink in Chamonix centre or the outdoor rink in les houches, located just next to our Chalet Eveland!
Both are pay on arrival and the rental of boots is available.
QC Thermal Spa
The QC thermal pools in the centre of Chamonix offers a huge range of rooms pools and treatments including natural thermal baths, jacuzzi and massage. You can also enjoy a nice meal in their on-site restaurant.
Open every day including Christmas day. Friday and Saturday 09:00 – 23:00 and Sunday to Thursday 09:00 – 22:00.

Museum
In the centre of Chamonix town there is the alpine museum, offering a detailed look into the history of the valley and alpine sports and activities.
Aiguille du midi
Getting up high on the mountains, Take the gondola up to one of the highest points in Chamonix. Experience the glorious panoramic views and if you dare to step into the void. This is a must-see in the valley and is covered on your Mont Blanc Unlimited Ski Pass.
Montenvers
The beautiful traditional train that takes you up 1,913 meters up into the stunning mountain backdrop. It takes you up to the Mer du Glace glacier where you can walk down and explore the ice caves.
Enjoy the restaurant and cafes, with three different options for you and your friends and family to enjoy.
Apres ski
Daily apres ski is unmissable at Le folie douce hotel, located in the centre of Chamonix in front of the savoy beginner slope.
Enjoy music and performances from professional and trained performers.
