Chamonix’s nightlife has evolved — a little less about all-night clubs, and a lot more about good drinks, live music, and buzzing après spots that keep the energy going long after the lifts close. From sunny terraces and cocktail bars to a handful of late-night venues, there’s always somewhere to toast a great day in the mountains.
We’ve rounded up our favourite places across town — the local hangouts, the hidden gems, and the spots that always guarantee a good night.
Central Chamonix – Easy Stops and Local Favourites
Passing through the centre of town? These spots are impossible to miss and perfect for refuelling, people-watching, or settling in for a relaxed après session with Mont Blanc views.
Big Mountain Basecamp
Our favourite stop in the centre, Basecamp Bar is home to the local Big Mountain Brewing Co. and serves up everything that makes a great après spot: quality craft beer, hearty food, and a relaxed mountain vibe. The bright, open space fills with skiers, climbers, and locals swapping stories over pints brewed just metres away.
It’s also a fantastic venue for team-building activities or group meet-ups, with plenty of space and a welcoming atmosphere. In spring through late autumn, their Big Mountain Run Club adds another reason to drop by — bringing together runners of all levels for social runs followed by a well-earned beer.
L’Hydromel
One of Chamonix’s cosiest finds. Specialising in mead, craft cocktails, and local brews, it’s a warm, wood-panelled hideaway perfect for a laid-back evening. The staff are passionate about their drinks and always happy to recommend something new — from honey-based aperitifs to rich, spiced winter blends.
Beer O’Clock
A paradise for craft beer fans, Beer O’Clock lets you pour your own pint from a rotating lineup of international and local brews. Simply grab a card, sample as you go, and enjoy the easy-going vibe. With friendly staff, small bites, and a lively crowd, it’s one of the best places in town to kick off or wind down your evening.
La Fabrica
Grab an Aperol Spritz or a steaming vin chaud and claim a spot on the terrace — views of Mont Blanc are hard to beat. Generous pizzas, burgers and crêpes, friendly service, and a lively mix of locals and skiers make it an easy central pick for après or a casual meal.
The Après-Ski stretch – Steps from the train station
Right in the heart of town, just in front of the Chamonix train station, you’ll find the valley’s most iconic après-ski stretch. These three bars — French, Swedish, and very Swedish — are the beating heart of Chamonix nightlife through winter. Between live music, flowing beers, and outdoor terraces with Mont Blanc views, this is where locals and visitors mingle as the sun sets on another powder day.
Elevation 1904
A Chamonix institution, Elevation 1904 blends the charm of a mountain café with the energy of an après-ski bar. A major renovation in 2016 gave it a more polished look, but on the right night, it still delivers those unforgettable “only in Chamonix” moments. Stop by for breakfast or lunch, then return for sundowners and DJs on the terrace overlooking Mont Blanc.
Chambre Neuf
When the live band takes the stage around 6 pm, things quickly shift from après to full-blown party. Table dancing is practically a rite of passage, and the energy here is pure Swedish ski spirit. A must-visit for anyone who wants to experience Chamonix’s most famous après-ski scene.
MOÖ bar cuisine
Walk in, dance out. MOÖ brings a fresh, modern energy to Chamonix’s après scene with a great mix of cocktails, craft beers, and a lively playlist that leans towards funk and feel-good tunes. Its sunny terrace fills fast on bluebird days, while evenings draw a cheerful crowd of locals and travellers alike. Whether you’re dropping by for a quick drink or settling in for the night, MOÖ is one of those places that always hits the right note.
Rue du Moulin – “Old Chamonix” Nights
Tucked away just behind the main street, Rue du Moulin has that cosy, old-town feel where one good drink often leads to three more. This narrow lane is packed with stylish bars, intimate corners, and lively late-night spots — the kind of place where evenings in Chamonix always seem to end up. Around every corner, you’ll find something different: refined wine bars, craft cocktails, and even a legendary late-night hot dog stand.
Le Jungle
A vibrant new addition to Rue du Moulin, Le Jungle brings tropical flair to Chamonix’s nightlife. Think lush interiors, colourful cocktails, and a lively yet laid-back atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot to start your evening with friends or to escape the cold for a warm, stylish drink. Small plates and DJs often feature, making it one of the valley’s freshest hangouts.
Le Pèle
New to Rue des Moulins but already a local favourite, Le Pèle blends mountain style with a fresh, modern twist. Expect creative cocktails, craft beers, and generous sharing boards served in a warm, wood-lined space that hums from après-ski through to late night. With regular DJ sets and a buzzing terrace, it’s quickly become one of the go-to spots for a relaxed but lively night out in Chamonix.
Les Caves
A blend of class and cool, Les Caves is a sleek cocktail and wine bar with just the right touch of exclusivity. Expect smooth DJ sets, an elegant crowd, and perfectly mixed drinks. Pair your glass of champagne with a sushi platter from Cap Horn upstairs, then dance the night away in this intimate, candle-lit space.
Bar du Moulin
A Chamonix favourite for cocktail lovers, Bar du Moulin masters the balance between sophistication and warmth. The bartenders are known for their creative twists and signature “cocktail of the day.” It’s the perfect spot to start — or end — a night in Rue du Moulin.
Bar’d Up
The louder, livelier neighbour to the elegant bars up the street, Bar’d Up is where the night really kicks off. With pool and foosball tables, live music, themed parties, and sports on big screens, it’s a relaxed favourite among locals and seasonnaires. Drop by for Happy Hour and stay for the atmosphere — it’s pure Chamonix energy.
Chamonix Sud – The Social Corner of Chamonix
Just around the corner from the Aiguille du Midi cable car, “the Sud” has long been a social hub for locals, seasonnaires, and visitors alike. Compact and lively, it’s packed with relaxed pubs, good food, and plenty of après-ski atmosphere without the fuss. Whether you’re grabbing a sunny terrace beer or catching a live band, this little square always feels like home base in Chamonix.
South Bar
Right in the centre of Chamonix Sud, South Bar is all about good food and good vibes. Expect hearty burgers, pastas, and daily specials to fuel your mountain adventures, plus happy hours, live music, and DJs that keep things lively well into the evening. It’s an easy pick for après drinks or a casual dinner with friends.
The Beckett & Wilde
For a taste of Ireland in the Alps, The Beckett & Wilde delivers perfectly poured Guinness, big-screen sports, and a friendly, familiar buzz. With a free pool table, regular live music, and a loyal local following, it’s the kind of place where stories and pints go down equally well.
Bighorn Bistro & Bakery
A long-standing favourite, Bighorn Bistro brings a touch of American comfort to the Alps. Known for its generous breakfasts, hearty mountain meals, and locally roasted coffee, it’s as good for brunch as it is for après-ski beers. With friendly service and hearty portions, it’s a must-stop for anyone staying in the Sud area.
Synge & co
A fresh face in Chamonix Sud, Synge combines a modern, creative kitchen with a relaxed bar atmosphere. Expect seasonal dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, served alongside great cocktails, natural wines, and a curated beer list. It’s the perfect mix of restaurant and bar — ideal for those evenings when you want something a little different but still casual and social.
Late-Night Spots
When you’ve still got energy after the slopes and drinks, Chamonix offers a handful of venues that go deeper into the night. From full-on club scenes to bar-turned-dancefloor, here are our picks for late-night fun.
Amnesia Club
Arguably the largest proper nightclub in town, Amnesia Club draws a mixed crowd of French, Scandinavian and British party-goers. Two dance floors, big guest DJs, and a late finish (often until about 06:00) make it the place to go when you truly want to go all night. The dress code is smart-casual (leave the ski gear behind) and yes, the coat check is an unavoidable step.
Carmen Club
A newer addition to the Chamonix nightlife scene, Carmen Club brings a fresh mix of house music, cocktails and a styled interior. Opened early 2024, it offers a slightly more upscale club experience compared with traditional bars.
Le Privilège
Not a full night till dawn venue, but still a lively tapas bar-club hybrid that works brilliantly for starting a late-night evening. With tapas, cocktails, live sets and a comfortable upstairs lounge area, it’s a strong option if you’re easing into the night or planning to finish elsewhere.
BAM Karaoké Box
If singing your heart out beats the usual bar chat, then BAM Karaoké Box is your late-evening wildcard. Opened in March 2025, this stylish new venue brings private karaoke rooms to the Alps — complete with over 45,000 songs, signature cocktails, and soundproof booths for groups who want to let loose. Whether you’re celebrating a powder day or just in the mood to perform, it’s the perfect mix of fun and après energy. Booking ahead is highly recommended.
