The summer season is almost upon us, with the first summer lift openings starting this weekend, 30th May and new lifts open as of 1st June.

The summer season is a slow burner and will be gently picking up between now and the Mont Blanc Marathon at the end of June. As the numbers of tourists in town grow, more and more of Chamonix’s lifts will be gradually reopening over the coming weeks, with the first openings this weekend.

Panoramic Mont Blanc & Aiguille du Midi

This extraordinary cable car ride will be open as of tomorrow 30th May, and all through the summer until 27th September. Take the Aiguille du Midi cable car from Chamonix town centre and then connect to the Panoramic Mont Blanc for a spectacular ride over the glaciers of Mont Blanc towards Italy’s Pointe Helbronner. Aiguille du Midi is open non-stop between winter and summer until 2nd November.

Aiguille du Midi’s wildly successful Step Into the Void attraction will reopen on 26th June after a winter of works to improve the lift access to the summit. Read all about our team visit last summer.

NB. The Panoramic Mont Blanc is not included in your Aiguille du Midi ticket or Mont Blanc Multipass (extra 27€).

NEW Funivie Monte Bianco

Finally, after years of waiting and works, the new cable car from Courmayeur in Italy to Pointe Helbronner is going to open for Summer 2015. As of 1st June, ride this exceptional new 360 degree rotating cable car to the Italian side of the Vallée Blanche. Check out the video here (in Italian).

June lift openings

On 13th June, most of Chamonix’s lift areas will reopen for the summer to give high mountain access for hikers, bikers, parapenters and sightseers: Brévent Flégère, Balme (le Tour), Les Houches (Bellevue) and Tramway du Mont Blanc.

20th June will see the opening of Prarion in les Houches as well, while all lift areas will be open by 27th June when Les Grands Montets lifts and the cable car from Vallorcine will start running for the summer.

Montenvers train is also open non-stop between summer and winter.
