Chamonix Mountain Running Festival| 6–8 June
A weekend of trail running inspiration! From masterclasses and clinics to evening talks with international athletes, the festival blends passion, expertise, and community. Highlights include the Festival Opening & Apéro with athlete panel, a talk by Katarzyna Solińska (6th female at UTMB), and Sunday’s Fest Run & Breakfast with Patagonia Chamonix. Marathon du Mont-Blanc | 26–29 June
The Marathon du Mont-Blanc is a premier trail running event held annually in Chamonix, attracting over 10,000 runners from around the world. Spanning four days, the event features eight races, including the challenging 90km ultra-trail, the classic 42km marathon, shorter distances like the 23km and 10km, the vertical kilometre, and family-friendly events such as the Mini Cross and The Young Race . In 2025, the organisers are emphasising sustainability by reserving 40% of race entries for participants who commit to traveling by train or bus, and requiring all runners to offset their travel-related carbon emissions.

Arc’teryx Alpine Academy | 3–6 July
The Arc’teryx Alpine Academy returns to Chamonix from July 3 to 6, 2025, for its 14th edition. This premier mountain education event offers over 80 clinics led by more than 150 certified mountain guides and over 40 elite athletes, covering disciplines such as mountaineering, climbing, bouldering, trail running, and photography. Centered around Parc Couttet, the Alpine Village hosts free activities including film premieres, live music, gear demos, and sustainability workshops, creating a vibrant hub for mountain enthusiasts of all levels.

Argentrail | 20 July
The Argentrail is a trail running race held in the stunning Mont Blanc region, with routes that showcase the natural beauty of the Argentière area. Runners can choose from several distances, from the challenging 27km trail to the more accessible 15km and a shorter 8km course, making it a great event for all levels. The race is known for its friendly atmosphere, exceptional organisation, and breathtaking alpine views along the routes. Starting and finishing in Argentière, the event welcomes both competitive runners and those seeking a scenic challenge.

Climbing World Cup | 11–13 July
Chamonix once again hosts a stage of the IFSC Climbing World Cup, drawing the world’s best climbers to compete in the Lead and Speed disciplines. Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Mont Blanc massif, the event takes place in the heart of town, creating an electric atmosphere with crowds gathering to watch the action unfold. UltraMontée des Posettes | 15 August
The UltraMontée des Posettes is a unique uphill-only trail race in the Chamonix valley, where runners take on the same climb multiple times within a set time limit. Starting from the picturesque village of Vallorcine, the course ascends 500m over 3km to the summit of Les Posettes, with breathtaking views of Mont Blanc and the Aiguilles Rouges. The goal is simple but tough: complete as many ascents as possible in two, four or six hours. It’s a festive, high-energy event perfect for both seasoned trail runners and mountain lovers.

Chamonix Film Festival | 10 – 15 June
The Chamonix Film Festival celebrates its 5th edition with a vibrant programme of mountain cinema, adventure, and culture. This year features 18 films, including 14 French premieres, screened at the historic Cinéma Vox and open-air sessions in Parc Couttet. New for 2025: daily ciné-débats exploring themes like ecology, mental health, and inclusion, plus the return of the Montagne Sociale & Solidaire Day. Festival patron Benjamin Védrines and special guest Alain Robert (“The French Spiderman”) headline a week of screenings, talks, and mountain outings.
Fête de la Musique | 20 – 22 June
Chamonix embraces the nationwide celebration of Fête de la Musique with a vibrant weekend of live music and performances in the streets, bars, and squares of town. From local bands to international artists, expect a diverse mix of genres and an electric atmosphere throughout Chamonix and Argentière. This year, the festivities also include the Big Mountain Basecamp – making it an unmissable cultural kick-off to summer.

Fête des Guides | mid August
A cherished tradition in the Chamonix valley, the Fête des Guides celebrates the legacy and courage of the mountain guides who have shaped the region’s alpine culture. Organised by the Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix, the event features climbing demonstrations, concerts, a festive market, and a moving tribute to those lost in the mountains. The highlight is the dramatic sound and light show held at the base of Les Gaillands. Proceeds from the festivities go to supporting the families of injured or deceased guides, making it a meaningful and memorable event.
