3rd-18th July: Montreux Jazz Festival
The Montreux Jazz Festival is an unmissable event in the international jazz calendar and the second largest jazz festival in the world, with free and ticketed events around this town on the edge of Lake Geneva. Established legends and emerging acts from all genres come to Montreux to perform on the banks of the water.
This year acts include Chemical Brothers, Sinead O’Connor, Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga, Damian Rice, Mary J. Blige and Lionel Richie. Plus there’s loads of free events with Music in the Park, the Rock Cave and the Studio offering a chance to soak up some of the atmosphere for free.
You can even enjoy a reminder of the festival at the end of your holiday, by stopping off for a drink in the Montreux Jazz Café at Geneva Airport before you fly home!
Day trip to Montreux Jazz Festival
Montreux is just 90km from Chamonix, and we can help you arrange transport to get there. The town is a great setting for the festival and worth having a wander around, thanks to its spectacular location on the banks of Lake Geneva and views of the Alps. Look out for the statue of Freddie Mercury, who wrote and recorded here; the statue features on the front of Queen’s “Made in Heaven” album.
