About your accommodation

Penthouse Le Bartavel is one of the best luxury holiday rentals in Chamonix centre. Located on the top floor right in the heart of Chamonix, it has 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and a fantastic living space opening onto the roof terrace.

This stunning apartment is beautifully furnished, marrying alpine and modern design to create a cool sophisticated holiday rental. The living area is spacious and well laid-out, ideal for a family of up to 6 people. There is lounge seating for 7, as well as a dining table and chairs seating 6. The kitchen is well equipped and benefits from a breakfast bar seating 4. There is a beautiful modern fireplace in the lounge, a large 46" smart TV with Sony surround sound which offers freesat UK channels and a DVD player with a library of DVDs. The lounge has large patio doors which open onto a good size roof top balcony, 2 deck chairs, a large patio umbrella, and outdoor dining table and chairs seating 4.

There are 3 bedrooms each with their own bathroom:

The master bedroom has a superking bed, and plenty of wardrobe space too. The ensuite bathroom has a shower, sink and toilet.

The second bedroom has a double bed, the ensuite has a shower, sink and toilet.

The third bedroom is ideal for the kids, with a bunk bed set and a futon double bed, giving you flexibility on sleeping arrangements. Next to this bedroom is a family bathroom with supersize bath.

There is covered parking for one car, which is located a few minutes away from the apartment (it is possible to drive very close to the apartment for dropping off luggage etc when neccessary).

Normal check-in time is from 5pm to 9pm.

Flexible check-in / check-out times
If these times don’t suit your holiday arrangements, you can book our flexible early check-in / late check-out service (subject to availability). This must be booked with us in advance, and may be subject to a fee of €25 for apartments and €50 for chalets so that we can prepare the property in time.

Late check-in after hours
Check-in is possible until midnight, but please try to arrive before 9pm. For those arriving after 9pm there is a 30€ late check-in fee, which must be paid on arrival at your Chamonix accommodation.

Travel cots & high chairs / booster seats can be hired through us for £35 to include cot mattress, bed linen and a towel. You can add this to your booking at the time of booking.

Pets are unfortunately not allowed at this property.

What's included

  • One set of bed linen and towels is provided at your accommodation for your stay.
  • If you are staying for 2 weeks or more you will have a mid-stay linen change. Mid-stay cleaning can also be added at an extra charge - speak to the Resort Team or book on our Resort Shop.
  • Tourist guest cards will be given to you on arrival to give you free travel on the local train and buses and more.
  • End of stay cleaning is included at your accommodation, but we do expect you to follow our check out instructions on departure. If you prefer you can book an additional cleaning service.

At the bottom of the Savoy slopes, the brand new (2018) Hotel Folie Douce will be hosting daily après ski sessions in their underground party bunker where the clients of the hotel mix with locals and tourists alike. The fun begins at 4pm and ends at 8pm, making it an ideal early evening pit-stop on your way back to Penthouse le Bartavel, especially if you have been skiing the Brevent pistes above.

Additional Accommodation Details

This property is on the third floor and as this is a traditional Chamonix building there is no lift and therefore the apartment is not suitable for people with mobility problems.

There is a designated parking space available for one car, located in an underground car park a few minutes walk from the apartment.

My girlfriends and I really enjoyed our short stay in this lovely apartment. There is plenty of space and having three bathrooms gave us the privacy we wanted. The kitchen is really well equipped with loads of utensils (not always the case when renting) and we enjoyed cooking/chatting/drinking wine in the open-plan living area with the wood burning fire crackling away. It was really cosy and we could have stayed in all day. The location was very convenient and everything we wanted was on the doorstep. We especially enjoyed the amazing cakes from the patisserie directly below, which were impossible to resist. If they are lucky, I will bring my husband and kids next winter...!

Beautifully decorated and perfectly situated base in the centre of Chamonix
I was lucky enough to steal a couple of restful days in Chamonix on my way from Geneva to an exhibition in Budapest. I usually stay in hotels but since I had several commissions to prepare for, on this occasion I needed somewhere with more space. I'm a contemporary artist/sculptor by profession (www.levine-art.co.uk) and generally find it hard to locate places that appeal to my taste, but this apartment was really exceptional. The owners have combined modern Italian furniture with design classics (the Harry Bertoia bar stools are a personal favourite) and added some original paintings and photos to create a space that's both cool and welcoming. The original wooden ceilings and exposed beams are beautiful and the whole place has a really nice vibe. It's bang in the centre of town, so everything you need is within a few minutes walk. There are two nice supermarkets (Casino & SuperU) within 100m and both stock a good selection of local and international products and some great value French wine. The 6* Mont Blanc Hotel is right next door and one night I enjoyed a delicious meal in the Matafan restaurant (and a long session at their very luxurious bar), before staggering home, which took all of 2 minutes. The next night I ordered take-away from the Chinese restaurant across the street (someone kindly left a menu in a drawer) and since it's wasn't very busy (I guess September is low season), the owner offered to deliver it for me...! The views across the valley from the large terrace are superb and I enjoyed watching the cable car ascend to the Aiguille du Midi and the cog train slowly working it's way towards the Mer de Glace. The weather wasn't particularly warm during my stay, but I imagine sitting out in the summer would be a real joy. It's a few years since I've skied, but I'm really hoping to get back next winter to see what it's like with some snow on the ground. I think it will be perfect. Thanks again to the Chamonix-All-Year team for recommending this great place.

Beautiful apartment in the very Centre of Chamonix
This is a beautiful 3 bedroom apartment in the very heart of Chamonix. It has a fabulous kitchen and large living/dining area and a terrace with spectacular view. Everything is in pristine condition. The only drawback is there’s no lift, so for older people could be difficult to carry suitcases up to the apartment. Overall it’s been a joy to stay for a week in the apartment. Will be back.

A cosy nest in the vibrant Chamonix
We have spent 2 fantastic weeks in le Bartavel, a very luxury penthouse in the heart of the vibrant Chamonix city center. The apartment set up is just perfect with a very nice chalet atmosphere.
