14th July: Bastille Day

Chamonix hosts a range of free events to celebrate Bastille Day (French National Day) over July 13th-14th. The storming of the Bastille in 1789 is traditionally seen as a major event of the French Revolution and the birth of Modern France.

Chamonix – July 13th Chamonix combines the end of the Climbing World Cup with Bastille Day celebrations on July 13th, starting at 6.30pm and going on until 1am. The celebrations kick off with a swing/jazz concert and snack bar, followed by fireworks and a DJ until the small hours.

Les Houches – July 14th Enjoy traditional folk dancing before a ball and fireworks under a marquee. Folk dancing from 8pm and fireworks from around 10.15pm.

Argentière – July 14th Events and activities run all day from 10am until 1am, including markets, traditional dance, live concert and DJs and a snack bar.
